Q. Tell us a little bit about Anindita?
In a short span of 25 years I have had the fortune of living in 3 different countries and having extensively travelled around the world. I grew up in an amalgamated mixture of Turkey, India and the US. My maternal side is that of an Army background, and my paternal side is that of chemical engineers. I did my schooling between DPS RK Puram and British International School, Istanbul. I completed my honours in History from Lady Shriram College in Delhi. I trained in acting between Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares and Neeraj Kabi’s theatre workshop.
Q. You have an Honours degree in History from Lady Shri Ram College. How and why did you make the shift to Acting?
The acting bug caught me when I saw “Lamhe” as a child. It was my favorite film. I used to watch it on repeat and absolutely fell in love with Sridevi in Pallavi’s role. I was so obsessed that I convinced my parents to take me to Rajasthan for a month-long holiday — I shopped for all the lehngas I could lay my hands on. That’s all I wore for that month when I was pretending I was “Pallo”. I gave my family a rude shock when, in the middle of a camel ride, I asked to get off. I started randomly singing and dancing to “Morni baaga ma bole” —in a lehenga of course. In fact, a grand-uncle of mine who I stayed with in Jaisalmer still calls me “Pallo” and I have a sneaking suspicion he doesn’t know my real name!
I started my career as a commercial model, and was lucky enough to represent brands like Idea with Abhishek Bachchan, Panasonic with Ranbir Kapoor, LG, Godrej, Garnier with Karisma Kapoor, Hero Honda and others. It was a great learning experience for me, but I had always wanted to be become an actor. When “Amit Sahni ki List” was offered to me, I knew that it was a tremendous opportunity to achieving my dream.
Q. You’re a Model, Actor, Scuba Diver. What motivates you to pursue such diverse passions?
A. I have an insatiable appetite for new experiences and learnings! It drives me… so, when I do any of these things, it does not feel like“work” to me…. like you rightly state, these are my passions.

Q. What was it like at home? Did you face a lot of opposition from your parents or were they supportive of your endeavours?
A. Initially, my family was a bit apprehensive, but once they understood that this was what I really wanted… they supported my decision unconditionally to follow my dream. My mother, especially has been my rock through it all!
Q. People usually just see the glamour associated with show business. What kind of hurdles did you face along the way? How did you overcome them?
A. Like any other industry, there are no short cuts to success. Patience, resilience, hard work and staying grounded in reality have seen me through.

Q. Did you ever feel like quitting? What kept you going?
A. No, never got to the stage of wanting to quit.. Thank God! I am a romantic at heart… so for me this has always been a “meant to be”. I just needed to garner enough patience to wait it out.
Q. The film industry has obviously come a long way over time. How easy or difficult was it for you to break into the industry?
A. I think the industry has evolved beautifully over time. This is one place where your individuality and creative expression find a welcome home. Lady luck must be on one’s side too!
Q. How do you balance your professional and personal life?
A. I am a woman…. I am great at multitasking!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. That it doesn’t feel like a “JOB”!
Q. Any words of wisdom for our readers?
A. Work hard, but don’t forget to play hard as well. Stay true, stay you!
